DISCLAIMER: You DO NOT have to be a 'Husband' nor do you have to be in Tech. This is an unserious concept, a creative slide deck with a future prototype is good enough. Everyone's encouraged, just come hang if you don't feel like building :)
It’s our friend’s birthday and we’re outsourcing her love life. We are looking for anyone brave enough to try to engineer love. Your mission is to build literally anything that helps her: find, meet, evaluate or accidentally stumble into her future husband.
You’re building for someone who loves fun, novelty, and shared experiences, but also values having a real, grounded life with a partner. She’s spontaneous and adventurous, but not reckless — think curious, confident, and open to trying new things, while still knowing what she wants. She’s into tech and creativity, appreciates both high-energy experiences and low-key moments, and balances being social with needing solo recharge time. She’s secure, playful, and optimistic — the kind of person who says “why not?” to a lot of life.
More details will be revealed on demo day. ✨
Examples (not requirements):
A matchmaking algorithm that zeroes in on her type
A “husband recommender system”
A browser extension that flags red flags
A calendar optimizer to increase “meet-cute probability”
A bachelorette app with our friend as the only option to swipe on
A completely unhinged idea that somehow makes sense
🛠 How It Works
Form a team (required): Teams of at least 3 people. This is partly for collaboration and partly because we do not have the emotional stamina to watch 30 solo demos.
Team formation: You’ll have 15 minutes at the start to find a team. Make friends. Pitch ideas. Vibe check each other.
Build time: You’ll have 2 hours to build something. This can be: a working prototype a scrappy demo or a beautifully convincing slide deck explaining what you would build if time wasn't a constraint (we love visionaries)
Demo + judging: Each team will present for 5–7 minutes. Show us what you built, what it does, and why it works. Judging will consider creativity, thoughtfulness, practicality, and overall vibes.
Potential Valentine's date: You may be chosen to go on date with our friend but there is absolutely no pressure lol. If you're not interested, we'll find another husband no hard feelings!
⏰ Schedule
6:00 PM — Doors open
6:30 PM — Grand reveal of the Hackathon princess (context and rules)
6:45 PM — Socialize + Find your teams!
7:00 PM — Hacking begins

🏆 Prizes

Dating app premium (revealed later) for a month
Bonus Individual Prize: The Date
One person will win a date with the birthday girl for Valentine's Day!
Additional made-up awards possible (e.g. Most Unhinged, Most Thoughtful, Best Pitch with No Code)
Husbands and non-husbands are welcome, husbands do get priority though :) Hope to see y'all there!!
This event is hosted at the Frontier Tower:
We are transforming a 16-floor tower in San Francisco into a self-governed vertical village—a hub for frontier technologies and creative arts. Tier-one labs presenting AI, Ethereum, biotech, neuroscience, longevity, robotics, human flourishing, and arts & music. These floors will house innovators and creators pushing the boundaries of human potential in a post-AI-singularity world.
