About the Hackathon
The Afro-IP Law & Tech Hackathon 2026 is a multidisciplinary innovation challenge designed to bring together developers, designers, law students, policy thinkers and innovators to solve real-world problems at the intersection of artificial intelligence, law and governance, grounded in legal and policy frameworks.
After the hackathon, participants will transition into a structured training and mentorship program by The Udara Project, where they will learn how to leverage AI to build scalable and deployable solutions for the African market.

Hackathon Structure
The hackathon is organised into two main tracks:
1. Policy & Tech Track
Design policy frameworks addressing AI and digital risksBuild applications that operationalise these policiesFocus on aligning solutions with constitutional and regulatory principles
2. Innovation & Governance Track
Build civic tech tools that enhance transparency, participation and accountabilityDevelop platforms for citizen engagement, feedback and education
