Every year, 10 times a forest the size of the Amsterdamse bos is shredded to make transport pallets.
On February 20th, Collectief Circulair, together with Rik van den Reijen, organises a hackathon on the prevention of the waste stream from the single-use of these pallets.
In this hackathon, we will look for solutions that ensure pallets are reused more often, made from different materials, or given a second or third purpose. This impacts a company's costs and sustainability. Every year, 10-12 million "disposable" pallets are largely incinerated or shredded in the Netherlands. That would require 130,000 trees per year, the equivalent of approximately 1,000 football fields. There's a better way!
