SustainTech Hackathon is a software-focused innovation challenge where students build digital solutions to tackle sustainability issues within college campuses.
Campuses operate like small cities, consuming large amounts of energy, water, paper, and infrastructure resources—often mismanaged due to poor visibility and outdated systems.
This hackathon emphasizes practical, implementable software solutions that enhance efficiency, transparency, awareness, and long-term sustainability on campus.Hardware-based or purely theoretical ideas are not required.
Eligibility:
Open to students from all universities and colleges, across any discipline
Team size: 1–4 members
All team members must belong to the same institution
A participant may be part of only one team
Problem Statement:
Design and develop a software-based solution to address a sustainability challenge within a college or university campus
The solution should: Improve efficient use of resources
Reduce waste and operational inefficiencies
Enhance transparency, awareness, and accountability
Support long-term environmental, economic, or social sustainability
Problem Domains:
Energy Management
Water Management
Waste Management & Cleanliness
Paperless Administration
Transportation & Mobility
Hostel & Facility Management
Student Awareness & Sustainability Engagement
Any other campus-related sustainability challenge
Solution Requirements:
Solution must be purely software-based
No hardware implementation required
Acceptable formats include: Web applications, Mobile applications or Progressive Web Apps (PWA), Dashboards/portals, Data-driven or AI-based systems
Solutions must be realistic, feasible, and deployable in a campus setting
EVENT STRUCTURE (TWO ROUNDS)
Round 1: A)Problem Statement Understanding and Solution Proposal (Online)
What to Submit:A PPT covering problem understanding, sustainability gap, proposed software solution, target users & impact, and a high-level system approach.
Note: No coding or working prototype required in this round.
Participants are encouraged to use the provided PPT template, while adding their own creative touch.
Round 1:B) Online Presentation
Shortlisted teams will present their solution online
Join the official coordination group for updates & queries: WhatsApp Group
For More Details: Refer Rulebook and Explanatory Video
Teams must show a wireframe of the proposed software solution
Evaluation Focus:
Clarity of problem understanding
Relevance to campus sustainability
Feasibility and practicality
Quality and clarity of wireframe and user flow
Round 2: A)Prototype Development Phase
Shortlisted teams will develop their software prototype
Focus areas include functionality, usability, and deployment potential
Teams should prepare for offline evaluation
Date: 16 February 2026 Duration: 12-hour hackathon
Round 2: B)Offline Demonstration and Evaluation
Final Submission Requirements:
A fully deployed, working software solution.
Clear explanation of the problem addressed, system approach, tech stack used, deployment flow, sustainability impact, and future scope.
Presentation Mode: OfflineNote: Live demonstration of the deployed software is mandatory.
Accommodation & Meals:Accommodation will be provided for participants present offline at a nominal charge of ₹250 per head per day, which includes stay and three-course meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
Accommodation Form will be provided by 30th January 2026.
Development Expectations:
Clear problem identification
Explanation of sustainability impact
Working prototype or functional demo
Overview of system architecture
Scope for real-world implementation and scalability
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Teams will be evaluated based on:
Depth of problem understanding
Sustainability impact
Quality of software implementation
Usability and scalability
Overall execution and clarity
Judges’ decisions will be final and binding.
