Where mathematics meets markets. Where speed meets strategy. Organized by the Finance & Economics Club of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and powered by Jane Street, the National Quant Finance Olympiad is a global competition designed to bring together some of the brightest analytical minds passionate about quantitative finance. Quantitative finance lies at the intersection of mathematics, statistics, computing, and financial intuition. From designing trading strategies to analyzing complex market behavior, quantitative professionals rely on rigorous analytical thinking to navigate modern financial markets. The National Quant Finance Olympiad aims to recreate this analytical environment through a series of carefully designed rounds that test participants on speed, logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and model-building ability. Open to participants worldwide, the Olympiad offers a platform for students from diverse academic backgrounds to challenge themselves against top problem solvers while gaining exposure to the intellectual foundations of quantitative trading. With the support of Jane Street, a globally renowned quantitative trading firm known for its emphasis on mathematical problem-solving and collaborative thinking, the competition seeks to inspire students to explore the rapidly evolving field of quantitative finance. Why Participate: The National Quant Finance Olympiad provides participants with the opportunity to engage with problems inspired by the analytical challenges faced in quantitative trading and financial research. Participants will have the chance to: Apply mathematical and statistical reasoning to challenging problems Compete with analytically driven students from institutions across the world Develop practical skills in quantitative thinking and financial modeling Experience a structured competition inspired by real-world quantitative finance. Beyond the competition itself, participants will gain exposure to the problem-solving approaches used by leading quantitative trading firms such as Jane Street. Competition Structure: The Olympiad consists of four rounds, each testing a different dimension of quantitative ability. Preliminary Round – Speed Mathematics (Matiks): A fast-paced mental math and numerical reasoning round designed to test speed, accuracy, and computational agility. No Elimination in this round. Round 1 – Quantitative Aptitude Test: An online analytical test covering probability, statistics, logical reasoning, and mathematical problem-solving, designed to evaluate participants’ quantitative reasoning and analytical thinking. Round 2 – Quantitative Model Building: Participants will work on a finance-focused problem statement requiring the development of a quantitative model using data analysis and structured reasoning. Final Round – Offline Grand Finale: Top 20 participants will be invited to the campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati to present their solutions before a panel of judges, followed by networking sessions and engaging activities on campus. What Makes This Olympiad Unique: Industry-backed exposure: With Jane Street as the title sponsor, participants gain exposure to the analytical mindset and problem-solving culture that define leading quantitative trading firms. A complete quantitative journey: The competition moves from speed mathematics → analytical reasoning → model development → strategic presentation, mirroring the multi-stage thinking process used in quantitative finance.
