GameForge Quest is an intensive game development competition designed to test participants’ creativity, problem-solving ability, and technical proficiency in game design and development. Participants are required to conceptualize and build a complete game from scratch within a limited timeframe using provided assets, rules, and core gameplay loops.
The event emphasizes innovation, engaging gameplay mechanics, clean implementation, and effective use of visual and artistic elements. It aims to simulate real-world game development constraints while encouraging originality and teamwork.
Event Format:
Duration: 48 hours
Challenge:Participants will develop a fully functional game from scratch using the provided assets, rules, and predefined game loops in a game engine of their choice. The final product should demonstrate creativity, playability, and technical soundness.
Participants will be evaluated based on:
Innovation and originality of the concept
Gameplay mechanics and engagement factor
Code quality and implementation
Visual design and artistic integration
Adherence to the given theme and constraints
Format & Eligibility:
Nature: Intra (on-campus only)
Hosting: On-campus
Team Structure:
Participants may compete individually or in teams of up to 4 members.
Team composition cannot be changed after registration.
General Guidelines:
All work must be original. Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
Participants must strictly adhere to the provided assets, rules, and game loops.
Use of external libraries, engines, and frameworks is allowed.
Pre-written code is allowed only if it is generic (e.g., utility functions) and not game-specific.
Internet access is permitted for reference purposes only.
AI-assisted tools may be used for ideation or minor assistance but not for generating complete games.
The game must be developed entirely within the given duration.
Participants must follow submission deadlines strictly. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Any form of misconduct or unfair means will lead to disqualification.
Judges’ decisions will be final and binding.
Submission Requirements:
Participants must submit a playable build of the game.
A source code repository (preferably public) must be provided.
A README file must include:
Game description
Controls and gameplay instructions
Setup/build instructions
Any additional assets used must be properly credited.
Judging Criteria:
The evaluation will be based on the following criteria:
Innovation & Originality: 30%
Game Mechanics & Fun Factor: 25%
Code Quality & Implementation: 20%
Visual & Artistic Assets: 15%
Adherence to Rules/Theme: 10%
Judges will evaluate submissions based on creativity, gameplay experience, technical execution, and overall polish of the final product.
