The Line Follower Challenge:
The Line Follower Challenge is a hands-on autonomous robotics competition designed to evaluate participants’ precision sensing, control system design, and real-time decision-making through intelligent path-following tasks.
The challenge focuses on building robots that can independently detect, track, and follow a predefined line-based course with high accuracy and speed.
Robots must analyze sensor input, execute embedded control logic, and dynamically adjust motor output to navigate curves, intersections, and track variations.
The event emphasizes optimization, stability, and intelligent handling of complex paths under time-bound conditions.
Together, these objectives provide a competitive platform for students to demonstrate technical expertise, algorithmic thinking, and applied knowledge in robotics, embedded systems, and automation.
Event Focus:
Hands-on autonomous robotics competition based on intelligent line tracking
Focus on sensor integration, motor control, and embedded programming
Real-time decision-making and performance-based evaluation
Pre-event training and mentorship through structured workshops
Platform for showcasing innovation, control optimization, and technical excellence
Event Flow:
Phase 1 – Online Registration & Coordination:
Participants register, receive event guidelines, track specifications, and complete team onboarding.
Phase 2 – Hybrid Pre-Event Program:
A 2-day hands-on workshop conducted in online and offline modes to prepare teams for the Line Follower Challenge.
Workshop Dates: 5th–6th February 2026
Training Includes:
Sensor calibration and line detection techniques
Motor driver interfacing and speed control
Embedded coding and PID/control logic implementation
Track analysis and optimization strategies
Test runs on sample line-following tracks
Round 1 – On-Campus Competition:
Teams design, build, and program their autonomous robots based on the provided track specifications.
Robots are tested in real time on the competition course, and performance is evaluated based on speed, accuracy, stability, and successful completion of track segments.
Round 2 – Grand Finale:
Shortlisted teams will present and demonstrate:
A fully functional autonomous line-following robot
Design approach and control logic explanation
Optimization strategies and performance tuning methods
Final run results and key technical learnings
Prize Pool: Line Follower Challenge:
1st Prize: ₹10,000
2nd Prize: ₹5,000
