The E-Cell Hackathon 2026
The E-Cell Hackathon 2026 is an innovation-driven challenge aimed at bringing together individuals with strong creative and problem-solving abilities to develop practical, real-world solutions.
The core objective of this hackathon is to encourage participants to think critically, adapt under time constraints, and transform ideas into tangible outcomes.
Unlike purely theoretical competitions, this hackathon emphasizes execution, feasibility, and real-world applicability.
Participants will work in a dynamic offline environment where they will ideate, build, and present their solutions within the same day.
The focus will not only be on innovation but also on how effectively teams can translate ideas into working prototypes and communicate their impact clearly.
Domains
Participants will be assigned any two random domains from the list below at the beginning of the hackathon.
These domains are designed to test adaptability and encourage multi-dimensional thinking.
EdTech
Campus Infrastructure Solutions
FinTech
Sustainability and Environment
Healthcare
DU Ecosystem
Defence Technology
Road Safety
Industrial Mobilization
Artificial Intelligence
Teams must identify a relevant and meaningful problem statement within the assigned domains and build a solution accordingly.
Eligibility Criteria
Students from all colleges and universities are eligible to participate
Participants should have an interest in innovation, technology, and problem-solving
Participants from cross-college, cross-discipline, and diverse fields are encouraged to apply
Team Guidelines
Participants can register individually or in teams of up to four (4) members
Cross-college teams are allowed
Team members cannot be changed after registration
Only one entry per team/participant is permitted
Hackathon Structure
The hackathon will follow a single-round offline format, designed to simulate a fast-paced real-world problem-solving environment.
Mode: Offline (College Campus)
Date: 29 April 2026
Each team will be assigned two random domains, after which they will proceed through the following stages:
Identify a Problem Statement
Teams will analyze the assigned domains and define a clear, relevant problem that needs solving.
The problem should be specific, practical, and rooted in real-world challenges.
Ideate a Solution
Participants will brainstorm and develop an innovative solution that effectively addresses the chosen problem.
Development Phase (3 Hours)
Teams will build their solution within a strict time limit of 3 hours, focusing on functionality, feasibility, and execution.
Prototype Creation
Teams are expected to create a working model or prototype.
Solutions may be software-based, hardware-based, or a combination of both.
Participants must bring their own devices, tools, and any required resources for development.
Submission Requirements
Each team is required to present their work through a clear and structured submission, which reflects both their idea and execution.
Presentation (PPT) must include:
Problem Statement
Clearly define the problem being addressed.
It should explain what the issue is, who it affects, and why it is important to solve.
Proposed Solution
Describe the solution developed by the team.
This should highlight how the solution works and how it effectively addresses the problem.
Approach and Execution
Explain the process followed — including ideation, design, tools used, and how the solution was implemented within the given time.
Vision and Impact
Showcase the potential of the solution.
This includes real-world applications, scalability, and the overall impact it can create.
A working prototype or demo is highly encouraged and will carry significant importance during evaluation.
Pitching Format
Each team will be allotted a total of 8 minutes:
5 minutes for presentation
3 minutes for Question & Answer
Judging Criteria
Prototypes will be evaluated based on:
Relevance to Problem Statement – How effectively the solution addresses the chosen problem
Innovation & Creativity – Originality and problem-solving approach
Technical Implementation – Quality of architecture, code, and use of AI
Business Viability – Practicality and real-world applicability
Presentation & Clarity – Effectiveness of demo, pitch, and communication
Impact & Scalability – Potential to create meaningful impact at scale
Rules
All solutions must be original and developed during the hackathon
Plagiarism or use of pre-built projects will lead to immediate disqualification
Participants must bring and manage their own hardware/software requirements
Teams must strictly adhere to time limits and submission deadlines
Any form of misconduct will result in disqualification
The decision of the judges and organizers will be final and binding
