GeoJam is a 3-hour GeoAI (geospatial AI) jam for people with GIS or AI / data science experience who want to hands-on and experiment with spatial data and modern AI.
GeoJam is a fast-moving, hands-on hacking session focused on exploration, quick experiments, and learning by building. You’ll team up with others, dive into real geospatial datasets, and try out AI techniques — from computer vision on satellite imagery to machine-learning-powered spatial analysis.
Come with a question, an idea, or just curiosity. Whether you’re fluent in maps or models, the point is to tinker, test, break things, and see what clicks when spatial thinking meets modern AI.
Just focused hacking and shared learning.
What We’ll Do
• Kick off with a quick intro to GeoAI problems, datasets, and inspiration (bring your own ideas or data if you want)• Form small teams around shared interests• Jam on ideas with guided support during the hacking session• Share what you explored — wins, failures, and “aha” moments• Keep the momentum going via an optional community Discord
Who This Is For
• GIS folks who want to experiment with AI beyond theory• Data scientists / ML engineers curious about spatial data• Developers, researchers, and students exploring GeoAI• Anyone who enjoys hands-on problem solving, rapid experimentation, and maps
What You’ll Need
• Your own laptop• Some experience in either GIS or AI / ML• Comfort with Python, GIS tools, or cloud notebooks is helpful
Agenda (5:00–8:00 PM)
• 5:00 – 5:20 Welcome, context, and challenge ideas• 5:20 – 5:40 Team formation and setup• 5:40 – 7:30 Hacking, experimenting, and building• 7:30 – 8:00 Show & tell, wrap-up, and informal networking
