Are you ready to build the next generation of digital public infrastructure? Shaastra 2026, the annual technical festival of IIT Madras, in collaboration with MOSIP (Modular Open Source Identity Platform), invites you to the MOSIP Decode Hackathon. This competition is a cornerstone of the Digital Governance Summit 2026, an international conference focused on creating citizen-centric, inclusive, and transparent governance through technology. We are calling on innovators, developers, and problem-solvers to tackle real-world challenges and build solutions that will define the future of digital identity and public services. About the Hackathon: Participants will form teams to build a working prototype based on one of two high-impact problem statements provided by MOSIP: Quality Check Portal for Agricultural Imports and Exports (High Complexity): Develop a web-based portal for exporters and quality assurance (QA) agencies. Your solution will allow users to upload product data, conduct inspections, and generate digitally verifiable quality certificates (Verifiable Credentials) for agricultural raw materials, securing and digitizing the entire import/export certification process. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for Text Extraction and Verification (Medium Complexity): Innovate an OCR-driven solution that can seamlessly extract text from scanned documents (like ID cards or forms), intelligently auto-fill digital forms, and accurately verify the extracted data against the original source for enhanced reliability and efficiency. Competition Structure & Timeline: This is a two-stage competition designed to find the best and most innovative solutions. Round 1: Online Preliminary Round (on Unstop) Registered teams will work on their chosen problem statement and submit their tool or prototype online. Submissions will be evaluated by experts based on creativity, technical soundness, practicality, and alignment with MOSIP's objectives. Round 2: Offline Finale at IIT Madras The top 10 teams from Round 1 will be invited to the IIT Madras campus to present their working solutions live to a distinguished panel of judges from MOSIP. Key Dates: Registrations Open: November 8, 2025 Registrations Close: December 8, 2025 (6:00 PM IST) Round 1 Submission Deadline: December 13, 2025 Round 1 Results Announcement: December 20, 2025 Offline Finale (at IIT Madras): January 5, 2026 Eligibility: All participants must register in teams of 2 to 4 members. Prizes & Recognition: A total prize pool of ₹90,000 is up for grabs, along with the opportunity to present your solution to leaders in the digital governance space. 1st Prize: ₹45,000 2nd Prize: ₹30,000 3rd Prize: ₹15,000 Resources & Support: You're not in this alone. We will provide you with the resources and guidance needed to succeed. Doubt Clearing Sessions: Open Q&A sessions with representatives from MOSIP will be held to clarify doubts about the problem statements and expectations. Session 1: November 20, 2025 (Thursday) Session 2: December 4, 2025 (Thursday) MOSIP Community: Participants are encouraged to use the MOSIP community channel (community.mosip.io) for support and to engage with other developers.
