Students @AI: Buenos Aires AI Policy Sprint ๐๏ธ
๐น What's This Event About?
Students @AI: Buenos Aires AI Policy Sprint is a policy design competition backed by the Responsible Youth Technology Fund, bringing together 50 university students from across Buenos Aires to draft AI policy proposals for the city's future. This event is hosted in partnership with The Levellers and Xplora, student-led groups from UCEMA University.
This is a policy sprint with the winning team receiving $500,000 ARS. You and your team will research, debate, and design a concrete 2 page policy proposal that recommends how Buenos Aires should implement AI technology to uplift one of four critical sectors. You will then get to present and defend your teamโs policy for a chance to reach the final presentation at the end of the event. This isn't a hackathon so you won't be building an app or writing code. Think government briefs, not coding or any building.
Young people are the most exposed to AI across every dimension of their lives, yet they are almost entirely absent from the rooms where policy gets written. This event exists to change that โ by putting students in the role of policy designers and giving their proposals a real audience.
๐ FUN
This event is designed to be collaborative and fun so that you may meet people, make new friends, eat good food and overall enjoy yourself while simultaneously contributing to the future of AI in Buenos Aires where your voice is heard.
๐ Prize
The winning team receives ARS 500,000 to host their own event advocating for their winning policy, as well as support from AI Consensus โ including an introduction to a member of the Buenos Aires City Government to present their proposal.
All policy submissions will be compiled and shared with city stakeholders and partners. Selected policies will be featured on the AI Consensus website.
๐ The Four Policy Tracks
Each team will design a policy proposal within one of these tracks recommending how Buenos Aires should adopt and govern AI technology to improve outcomes in that sector:
๐ Track 1: Education โ How should AI be implemented in Buenos Aires classrooms, curriculum design, and student assessment to improve learning outcomes?
๐ Track 2: Transport & Mobility โ How should Buenos Aires use AI to improve traffic management, public transit, and urban mobility for its residents?
๐ฅ Track 3: Social Welfare & Public Health โ How should the city deploy AI tools to improve welfare distribution, healthcare access, and support for vulnerable populations?
๐ผ Track 4: Economic Development & Entrepreneurship โ How should Buenos Aires use AI policy to support jobs, SME competitiveness, and workforce transition in Argentina's evolving economy?
