Code4Change: National 24-Hour Hackathon:
Code4Change is a national-level 24-hour hackathon organized under Project Sankalp by NSS, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). The event aims to bring together innovative student teams from across India to solve real-world, community-driven challenges through technology.
Participants will ideate, build, and present scalable solutions across high-impact domains focused on social good and sustainability.
Domains:
Participants must choose one of the following domains:
Women’s Entrepreneurship & Economic Empowerment
Health, Sanitation & Community Wellbeing
Environmental Sustainability & Climate Action
Eligibility Criteria:
Open to UG, PG, and PhD students across India
Participants must be currently enrolled in an educational institution
Team size: 3 to 5 members
A maximum of 30 teams will be shortlisted for the final hackathon
Team Formation Rules:
Inter-college teams: Allowed
Inter-specialization teams: Allowed
Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged
Competition Format:
Round 1: Online Screening (Selection Round)
Teams must submit a 3-minute video pitch explaining:
The problem they are solving (the best idea)
Their proposed solution
Expected impact
Requirements:
Face of at least one team member must be clearly visible
Audio and explanation must be clear and structured
The idea should be original and feasible
Round 2: 24-Hour Hackathon (Offline)
Shortlisted teams will participate in a 24-hour on-site hackathon
Activities include:
Problem statement release
Mentorship sessions
Mid-evaluation checkpoints
Final prototype and presentation

Duration Of Rounds:
Screening Round: Video submission before the deadline
Final Round: 24-hour continuous hackathon
Evaluation Criteria:
Innovation (20%) – Originality and creativity
Community Impact (20%) – Real-world relevance and measurable outcomes
Technical Execution (15%) – Feasibility and robustness
Viability (15%) – Profitability and sustainability
Scalability (15%) – Potential to expand
Presentation (15%) – Clarity and delivery
General Guidelines:
Teams must bring their own hardware for the final round
Use of open-source tools and libraries is allowed
Pre-built or plagiarized solutions are strictly prohibited
All submissions must be original work of the team
Shortlisted teams will be notified via email
Rules And Regulations:
Participants must adhere to all timelines and submission guidelines
Any form of malpractice, plagiarism, or misconduct will lead to disqualification
Teams must be present for all evaluation checkpoints during the hackathon
Judges’ decisions will be final and binding
Organizers reserve the right to modify rules if necessary
