Terminal Exit is a live, high-pressure coding contest designed to test a participant’s confidence, problem-solving skills, and ability to perform under time constraints. Unlike traditional coding competitions, this event introduces a raise-your-hand elimination mechanism, where participants must decide whether to attempt a problem based on their confidence. The contest emphasizes decision-making, accuracy, and composure, making it both competitive and entertaining for a live audience. Event Structure Overview: Offline, live coding event Individual (solo) participation Conducted on a projector in front of an audience Total of 4–5 rounds Each round is of 30 minutes Difficulty and points increase with every round Round Format & Time Distribution (30 Minutes): Each round is divided into three phases: Phase 1: Problem Display & Hand Raise (5 Minutes) A coding problem is displayed on the projector. Participants are given 5 minutes to analyze the problem. Participants who believe they can solve the problem raise their hand to opt in. Selection is done on a First Come First Serve (FCFS) basis. Phase 2: Coding Phase (20 Minutes) Selected participants proceed to write the code. Solutions must follow predefined input and output formats. Problems are based on Data Structures and Competitive Programming. Phase 3: Buffer & Transition (5 Minutes) Time allocated for: Code evaluation Result announcement Leaderboard update Transition to the next round Elimination & Progression Rules: Participants who successfully solve the problem: Earn points based on problem difficulty Remain eligible for subsequent rounds Participants who fail to solve the problem: Receive zero points Are eliminated from further rounds Their total score is frozen on the leaderboard Scoring System: Points are awarded based on problem difficulty. Difficulty and point value increase in each round. A live leaderboard is maintained throughout the event. Rules & Code of Conduct: Any form of unfair means or external assistance is strictly prohibited. Participants must strictly adhere to time limits. Decisions taken by judges and organizers shall be final. Organisers reserve the right to modify rules if required. Infrastructure & Requirements: Projector and display system Coding systems / laptops Judges for evaluation Timer and leaderboard management Prize Pool & Rewards: Total Prize Pool: ₹15,000 1st Prize: ₹8,000 2nd Prize: ₹5,000 3rd Prize: ₹2,000 Certificates of Achievement for winners Certificates of Participation for finalists Objective of the Event: The objective of Terminal Exit is to encourage logical thinking, confidence-based decision-making, and competitive coding under pressure, while delivering a high-energy and engaging experience. Conclusion: Terminal Exit is a contest where confidence meets correctness. Think wisely, raise your hand only when you’re ready, and remember—one wrong move can be your Terminal Exit.
