BugHunt is a cybersecurity-focused technical event organized by Projections ’26, designed to test participants’ knowledge and hands-on skills across multiple domains of information security. The event combines competitive problem-solving with real-world attack simulations, making it ideal for students passionate about cybersecurity and ethical hacking.

BugHunt is a two-day cybersecurity technical event.
Eligibility
The event is open to all participants. Participants need not be from the same college or organization.
Participation Format
Only team participation is allowed.
One representative from each team will attempt the Quiz Round on behalf of the team.
Event RoundsThe event consists of the following rounds:
Quiz Round:A 1-hour cybersecurity-based quiz consisting of multiple-choice and scenario-based questions.
CTF (Capture The Flag) Round:The main round of the event, conducted over two days, with a total duration of 8 hours:
Day 1: 5 hours
Day 2: 3 hours
Web-Based Boot2Root Round:A 3-hour hands-on challenge focused on web exploitation and privilege escalation.
Scoring & Evaluation
Teams will be evaluated based on accuracy, difficulty of challenges solved, and completion time.
Final rankings will be determined by the Projections ’26 organizing committee.
Accommodation
No accommodation will be provided by the Projections ’26 organizing team or the university.
Final Authority
The decisions of the Projections ’26 organizing committee will be final and binding.
Rules:
Quiz Round Rules
Only one representative per team is allowed to attempt the Quiz Round.
The quiz must be completed within the allotted 1-hour time limit.
CTF & Boot2Root Rules
Teams must interact only with the provided targets and challenges.
Attacking the event infrastructure, competition platform, or other teams is strictly prohibited.
Any attempt to disrupt the competition environment will result in disqualification.
Fair Play
Sharing flags, solutions, or hints between teams is not allowed.
Any form of collusion or unfair advantage is prohibited.
Tools & Resources
Participants may use open-source tools and publicly available resources unless explicitly restricted during the event.
Excessive traffic generation or denial-of-service attempts are strictly prohibited.
Disqualification Policy
Any form of misconduct, plagiarism, or rule violation may lead to immediate disqualification without prior notice.
Scoring & Rankings
Scores will be awarded based on correct flag submissions, challenge difficulty, and completion time.
In case of a tie, the decision of the Projections ’26 organizing committee will be final.
Organizer’s Authority
The Projections ’26 organizing committee reserves the right to modify rules or take necessary action to ensure fair conduct of the event.
