About
Dream State is a collective of third-culture kids creating works, worlds, and programs where it is safe to dream.
Open Sky Studio (OSS) is a new Dream State experiential series. Every two weeks (eight sessions), OSS will welcome a community dedicated to furthering their personal projects, sharpening their artist toolkit, and growing into a new version of their creative selves.
Kindred Studio provides a nurturing environment where individuals are encouraged to connect with others and experience the joy of collaborative art. They are committed to offering a space that fosters inspiration, growth, and a sense of belonging.
We are thrilled to be collaborating on this series with Kindred Studio.
OSS #1 Artist Feature

Theresa Panyawai is an artist who exists in the space between genres. Their work navigates the tension between music, visual arts, movement practices, installation work, film photography, documentary video, and poetry. Through surrealism, lived experiences, and introspection, their work explores the process of becoming, transitions, and the constant return to oneself through working with memory, grief, vulnerability, time, transformation/transmutation, and rebirth. They aim to explore the complexity/interconnectedness of human nature through examining the multitude of ways in which they exist and how those intersect yet contradict one another, illustrating their journey with finding the beauty in the space between polarities and past/present/future selves.
Instinctual in nature, their art examines the relationship of listening to one’s intuition and self through the process of trusting when to stop, leaning in into the pauses, and breathing through the unknown. Through music, they create immersive and dynamic soundscapes built through layers and layers of loops, becoming more expansive with each new layer added. In conjunction with their piano and SP-404, they create a portal in which listeners are invited to witness the intimate relationship between musician, instrument, and impermanence: how can loops serve as a portal of conversation between past and present selves/what can be created in a liminal space that is temporary yet entirely reliant on intuition? Through their process of live looping that is freestyled on the spot, both listeners and the artist are ushered into the artist’s inner world, where all are invited to immerse themselves into the depths of sound, the reflection that comes with space, and the temporary nature of their performance style~how does one capture yet hold space for a moment that is fleeting.
