The GEC Coders' Club Hack Day is a fast-paced, community-driven hackathon designed to help students build, prototype, and demo impactful solutions using Generative AI — all within a short, high-energy format.
This hackathon is conducted in two phases and strongly encourages the use of large language models and AI tools like Google Gemini to accelerate ideation, development, and iteration.
In the first phase, participants will work online on a main problem statement, focusing on ideation, research, and initial implementation.
Teams are encouraged to use Generative AI tools (including Google Gemini) for:
Brainstorming and refining ideas
Writing and debugging code
Generating content, logic, or workflows
Rapid prototyping and experimentation
Teams will come on campus for an intensive 6-hour offline sprint.
A sub-problem statement aligned with the original idea will be provided
Teams must extend or adapt their solution within the time limit
Use of Google Gemini and other development tools is encouraged
The sprint simulates real-world development pressure
Practical use of Generative AI tools like Google Gemini
Rapid prototyping under tight time constraints
Creative and structured problem-solving
Strong team collaboration and technical execution
Clear, effective demos and presentations
The hackathon will conclude with:
Live project demos
Judging by mentors and evaluators
Prizes and recognition for teams that best combine:
Innovation
Usability
