Bridging the Gap from Displacement to Disruption
After the massive success of last year’s Street Economy Hackathon, we are back and we’re kicking it up a notch.
This year, we aren’t just looking at the streets; we’re looking at the future of the Refugee Ecosystem. In partnership with the Women Impact Network (WIM), we are bringing together Nairobi’s brightest minds to bridge the gap between refugee talent and the global startup community.
We really want to encourage female innovators and refugee led solutions this year. What does this mean? Anyone can attend. Yes, even men, even non technical people, or a corporate professional. However, we want to see women and refugees too!
🧩 The Challenge
Refugees possess incredible resilience and untapped skills, yet they face everyday hurdles that keep them on the fringes of the formal economy. We’re moving past grants and moving toward sustainable, revenue generating innovation.
We are opening up 20 extra seats this year! If you want to build a solution around real-world problem statements that actually scales, this is where you need to be.
🏆 What’s on the Line?
We aren't just giving out trophies. We are providing a full year of strategic support to take a hackathon idea into the real market. Successful teams building viable businesses around our problem statements will unlock:
Stage 1: The Accelerator Pathway A guaranteed spot in an elite accelerator to incubate your idea.Stage 2: Investment Readiness Teams that successfully complete incubation will transition into a dedicated program to prepare for venture funding.Stage 3: The Scaling Program14 Week operational engineering program upon receiving investment, winners enter a specialized operational viability & blueprinting sprint. This program uses technology to build a digital twin of startups to stress-test workflows, eliminate blind spots, and map out a path to sustainable scale.
