Makeathon 8 is the flagship event of Microsoft Learn Student Chapter, TIET and one of the region’s most awaited 24-hour hackathons.
With a strong legacy of successful editions and growing national participation, Makeathon brings together developers, designers, and problem solvers from across the country.
Through workshops, mentorship, and a focused hackathon experience, Makeathon 8 aims to spark creativity, speed up execution, and inspire impactful solutions.
Eligibility:
The hackathon is open to students from all colleges.
Participants from different academic years are eligible.
Inter-college teams are allowed.
Inter-specialization teams are allowed.
Team Format
Teams must consist of 3–4 members.
Team members are encouraged to have diverse skill sets (design, frontend, backend, databases, etc.).
Hackathon Format
MAKEATHON 8 will be conducted in two stages:
Online pre-screening round
Offline hackathon round
Participation is free of charge (Thapar participants).
Shortlisted outside participants will be required to pay a registration fee of ₹49 per participant.
Accommodation charges may apply if required.
Problem Statements
Each team must choose only ONE problem statement.
Problem statements are provided in a pdf below as well as via the MAKEATHON 8 website and MLSC social media platforms.
Rounds & Duration
Round 1: Pre-Screening Round (Online)
Teams will be shortlisted based on their idea presentaion / video submission.
Round 2: Offline Hackathon Round
Shortlisted teams will participate in the on-site hackathon.
Team progress during the offline round will be monitored through periodic checkpoints.
All rounds must be completed within the officially communicated timelines.
Attendance
Physical attendance at the venue is mandatory for all qualifying participants.
Rules:
Teams must register through Unstop only, providing accurate team and member details.
Teams will be evaluated only on their selected problem statement; working on multiple problems is not allowed.
The prototype should strictly be made only during the offline round and not pre-made. Failure to follow the same shall result in disqualification.
Plagiarism is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification.
All submissions must be original.
Use of AI-generated content in presentations should be avoided; submissions must reflect genuine problem-solving.
Required submissions for offline round include:
A code repository link
A project proposal document (PowerPoint, minimum 7 slides)
All participants must join the official event app & community; failure to do so may lead to disqualification.
Participants must strictly follow the Code of Conduct throughout the event.
Any form of misconduct or rule violation may result in disqualification at the discretion of the organizing committee.
Evaluation will be done by a panel of judges, and their decision will be final and binding.
No cash will be provided; instead Vouchers + in-kind will be provided worth the same amount.
