Speedathon 2026 is a high-intensity, on-site hackathon conducted as part of Chennai Institute of Technology’s cultural event Takshasila’26. This event is designed to test participants on real engineering skills, speed, and problem-solving ability under strict time constraints.
Unlike traditional hackathons, Speedathon focuses on rapid software prototyping with zero pre-preparation, ensuring a fair and skill-driven competition.
Event Format:
Duration: 6 hours of continuous coding
Mode: Offline (Live final round)
Finalists: Top 10 teams compete on-site
Format:
Finalists receive a common problem statement
Teams build a working prototype within 6 hours
Live demo and evaluation by judges
Eligibility:
Open to all college students of all stream
Valid college ID is mandatory during the event
Teams must consist of 2 to 5 members
One team captain will handle submissions and communication
Selected teams for finals should pay Rs-500
Registration & Submission: To qualify for the final round, teams must submit:
One best GitHub repository of any one team member
GitHub profiles of all team members
Only one repository per team is allowed
Finalist Selection Process: Finalist selection will be based on a technical evaluation of the submitted GitHub repository and team profiles.
Evaluation Criteria:
Code quality and project structure
Engineering depth and problem-solving approach
Contribution of the submitting team member to the repository
Overall technical strength of the team based on all GitHub profiles
