Overview:
FOSS Hack GGITS 2026 is a 24-hour innovation-driven hackathon focused on building impactful solutions using Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). The event promotes collaborative development, open-source contribution culture, and real-world problem solving.
Participants will design, develop, and present working prototypes aligned with open-source standards and community-driven innovation.
Eligibility Criteria:
Open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students
Students from any branch/specialization can participate
Individual participation allowed
Team participation allowed (1–4 members)
Inter-College Participation:
Allowed
Inter-Specialization Participation:
Allowed
Students from different branches (CSE, IT, ECE, Mechanical, etc.) can form teams together.
Team Formation Rules:
Minimum team size: 1
Maximum team size: 4
A participant can be part of only one team
Team modifications will not be allowed after registration deadline

Competition Format & Process
Round 1: Registration & Idea Submission
Duration: 5 Days

Submission of problem statement + solution approach
Shortlisting based on innovation & feasibility
Round : Final Demo & Presentation
Duration: 5–8 minutes per team
5-minute live demo
3-minute Q&A with judges
Rules & Regulations:
All submissions must be original work. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
Use of open-source libraries is allowed.
Core logic must be developed during hackathon duration.
Teams must maintain a public GitHub repository.
Minimum 3 meaningful commits required during hackathon.
AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) are allowed for assistance.
Teams must submit source code, presentation, and demo before deadline.
Any misconduct or unfair means will lead to disqualification.
Judges’ decision will be final and binding.
Organizers reserve the right to update rules if required.
