Generative AI is rapidly transforming the world, enabling breakthrough innovations across sectors and creating opportunities to solve challenges at scale. As the demand for intelligent, human-centric solutions grows, so does the need for young innovators who can shape the next generation of AI-driven impact.
Build an innovative Generative AI solution that pushes boundaries, solves meaningful real world problems, and excites the tech community. Whether it is transforming workflows, enhancing intelligence, automating complex processes, or redefining user experiences, bring your best idea forward.
To foster this spirit of innovation, Techfest, IIT Bombay, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), proudly presents the AWS ImpactX – Generative AI Innovate & Build Challenge. This competition encourages students to conceptualize and build creative, original, and technically sound Generative AI solutions aimed at delivering meaningful real-world impact.
Competition Structure:
Phase 1: Online Idea Submission:
To participate, you must submit a proposal that clearly communicates your idea and vision. Your submission must include the following three components:
Concept Deck (PDF Format, 5-6 Slides) This is the core of your proposal. This concise deck (5-6 slides max, excluding intro/outro slides) should visually and textually narrate your entire idea. It must be clear, compelling, and professional. Your deck should effectively cover the following key areas:
The Problem: A clear definition of the real-world problem and the users it affects.
The Solution: Your proposed solution, its key features, and why it's a novel approach.
The GenAI Core: An explanation of how Generative AI is essential to your solution's functionality and success.
The Vision: The project's value proposition, its potential real-world impact, and a high-level view of its feasibility.
Video Pitch (Max 5 Minutes): This is your opportunity to bring your idea to life. Upload a video (via Drive link or YouTube link) that covers:
Your team's motivation.
A clear explanation of the problem's importance.
A walkthrough of your proposed solution.
Note: Please ensure video link permissions are set to allow anyone with the link to view.
Team Technical Experience (Mandatory): To help us understand your team's ability to execute the idea, you should provide links to:
Team member’s Github account(s).
Certificates of any technical achievements (Hackathons, Competitions, etc.).
Note:
Ensure your GitHub profile and repositories are publicly accessible.
The submitted GitHub repositories must belong to you. Any submission using someone else’s repo will lead to disqualification.
*Mandatory registration is required at techfest.org/competitions.
Phase 2: In Person Prototyping (Offline at Techfest, IIT Bombay)
Selected teams will be invited to Techfest 2025 for the in person prototyping round.
Build: Teams will build and refine their solutions using AWS tools and services.
Mentor: AWS mentors and domain experts will provide technical and strategic guidance.
Present: The challenge will conclude with final presentations and demos.
The second round is structured as a 12 hour offline hackathon.
Participants are recommended to build the prototype using kiro.dev (to be instructed by the AWS experts during Round 2).
Judging Criteria:
Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of experts based on the following criteria :
Innovation & Originality: Is the idea novel and creative?
GenAI Application: Is Generative AI used in a meaningful and core way?
Impact & Value: Does the solution address a significant problem and offer a clear value proposition?
Feasibility & Team Capability: Is the idea practical? Does the team (based on supporting materials) demonstrate the capability to build a prototype during Phase 2?
Clarity: How clearly and effectively is the idea communicated in the deck and video?
Eligibility:
