Embark on a cosmic journey through the lens of your camera with the Astrophotography Competition! Presented by the Physics and Astronomy Club at IIT Delhi in Tryst’26, this stellar event invites you to capture the enchanting beauty of the night sky, celestial wonders, and astronomical marvels. Whether you're mesmerised by star-studded landscapes, captivated by the allure of distant planets, or fascinated by rare celestial events, this competition offers a platform to showcase your celestial artistry. Join us under the canvas of the cosmos and let your creativity sparkle among the stars. Welcome to a celestial spectacle like no other! Objective: The Astrophotography Competition celebrates the art and science of capturing celestial wonders through photography, organised by the Physics and Astronomy Club at IIT Delhi, as part of Tryst '26. Participants are invited to showcase their skills across three categories: Nightscape, Planetary, and celestial Events. Eligibility: The competition is open to all individuals, irrespective of their affiliation or educational background. Participants must be at least 18 years old at the time of submission. Entries must be submitted as individual contributions; team submissions are not allowed. Categories: Participants can submit their entries in the following categories: Wide-field imaging: Captures large swaths of the night sky, often including the Milky Way, using a wider lens and shorter focal length. Lunar/Planetary imaging: Focuses on capturing detailed images of the Moon and planets, usually requiring higher magnification and specialized techniques. Deep-sky imaging: Aims to capture faint celestial objects like galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters, often requiring longer exposure times and specialized telescopes. Submission Guidelines: Each participant can submit up to 3 photographs per category. All photographs must be original works taken by the participant. Submitted photographs must be in digital format (JPEG or PNG) with a minimum resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Participants must provide the following details for each submission: Name of the Photographer, Title of the Image, Date of Capture, Location of Capture (City, Country), Equipment Used (Camera Model, Lens, Telescope, etc.), EXIF Data (Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO, Focal Length, etc.), Description of the Image (Optional but encouraged). Entries must be submitted via this form. If you have any problems submitting your entries please contact us at Physics and Astronomy Club, IITD and we will try to arrange an alternative delivery system. Do not send your images or videos by email; submissions by email or any means other than the form above will not be accepted unless this has been explicitly agreed upon beforehand with the PAC. Entries must be submitted by 1st March 2026 by midnight. Late submissions will not be considered. Rules: Images must be taken and processed by the entrant. The integrity of the subjects must be maintained, and the making of physical changes to the landscape is not permitted, i.e. removal or addition of fences or trees etc. Cloning or painting over the image and other picture manipulations, is not permitted. Submissions with watermarks, names, copyright lines, or any text or marks of any kind are not allowed. The decision of the organising committee and judging panel will be final and binding. The jury reserves the right not to award some or all the prizes in any category if they deem that no entries meet these requirements.
