About SPECTRE:
SPECTRE is a national-level 24-hour hackathon organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (BMSIT) Student Branch Chapter, in collaboration with IEEE Communications Society (BMSIT) and IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (BMSIT) at BMS Institute of Technology & Management.The hackathon features a total prize pool of ₹1,50,000, distributed equally across the Hardware and Software tracks.SPECTRE focuses on signal processing, robotics, communication systems, embedded systems, and intelligent automation, encouraging participants to solve real-world, society-driven, and industry-relevant problem statements through innovative hardware and software solutions.
Eligibility:
Open to undergraduate students from all engineering colleges of India
Inter-college teams are not allowed
Inter-specialization teams are allowed (students from different branches can form a team)
All team members must register individually on Unstop
Team size: 3–4 members
Each participant can be part of only one team

Prize Pool & Distribution:
Total Prize Pool: ₹1,50,000
Per Track (Hardware / Software): ₹75,000
1st Prize: ₹40,000
2nd Prize: ₹25,000
3rd Prize: ₹10,000
Hackathon Format & Process:
Round 1: PPT-Based Shortlisting (Online)
Teams must submit their solution proposal in the official PPT template provided by the organizing committee
This round will be used to shortlist teams for the final hackathon
A total of 20+5(Hardware) and 20+5(Software) will be shortlisted for the next round, with 5 teams as waitlist for each track.
Duration: 17th February to 5th March
Round 2: Grand Finale – 24-Hour Hackathon (Offline)
Shortlisted teams will participate in a 24-hour offline hackathon at the venue
To ensure smooth and efficient conduct of the offline hackathon, a registration fee of ₹1,500 per team will be charged
Teams are required to build and implement their solutions during the hackathon
Pre-built projects or previously developed solutions are strictly not allowed
Teams must demonstrate their working solution and explain the technical approach to the judges
Duration: 24 hours (continuous)
Rules:
All work must be completed during the hackathon duration
Use of pre-built or previously completed projects will result in disqualification
Solutions must strictly adhere to the chosen problem statement
Any form of plagiarism, misconduct, or rule violation will lead to disqualification
The decision of the judging panel and organizing committee shall be final and binding
