Life has been "lifing" a lot lately. In the last few months, I navigated a layoff and the end of a relationship, all while celebrating being one year cancer-free. Friends have asked me how I managed to stay so resilient and grounded in the face of so much change. My answer is always the same: my mindfulness meditation practice. To deepen this practice and learn how to share it, I enrolled in a year-long teacher training program. Now, I’m excited to share that I’ll be teaching this six-week introductory course on mindfulness foundations starting April 26th.
Today—between AI and social media, the news, and everyday difficulties—it’s so easy to feel scattered, overwhelmed, and disconnected. This journey offers a practical toolkit for navigating life’s noise with clarity and presence. We’ll focus on managing the mental clutter—like those unhelpful thought loops—that fuel anxiety and stress. It’s not about escaping the world or stopping your thoughts; it’s about cultivating the spaciousness and resilience to navigate it all with curiosity and non-judgment.
This course provides a supportive environment to explore mindfulness foundational practices. All experience levels are welcome! And yes, thinking is allowed!

April 26th-May 31st, 6 Sundays5:30pm-7:30pm Berkeley Yoga Center near University Ave. In-person only. Location access details will be shared after registration. Please note, the studio is only accessible via a staircase. *Yoga is not part of this course.

Maile (MY'lay) is a UX Leader & Mentor, graduate of UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center's Intensive Practice Program, and has completed multiple Insight meditation retreats and programs. She is a teacher in training with the Mindfulness Training Institute.
