Hack-The-Gap 2.0 is a 24-hour national-level hackathon organized by MGM University IEEE Student Branch in collaboration with CSN Municipal Corporation & Smart City. The event focuses on solving real-world smart city challenges through innovative AI, IoT, Blockchain, and software-based solutions.
Eligibility:
Open to college students (UG/PG) from any discipline
Participants must register in teams
Basic knowledge of programming/technology is recommended
Team Formation Guidelines
Maximum 4 members per team
Team registration with all member details is mandatory
Inter-college teams: Allowed
Inter-specialization teams: Allowed (e.g., IT + Mechanical + AI, etc.)
Problem Statements
Participants must choose from multiple real-world Smart City problem statements including domains like:
Public Safety & Surveillance
Traffic & Urban Flow Optimization
Smart Governance
Blockchain Infrastructure
Urban Mobility & Parking
Sustainability & Infrastructure
Citizen Engagement

Hackathon Format & Process:
Round 1: Idea Presentation (Online)
Submission: PPT
Teams present their solution idea
Evaluation based on clarity, innovation, feasibility
Only shortlisted teams qualify for finals
Round 2: Final Hackathon (Offline – 24 Hours)
Duration: 24-hour continuous hackathon
Teams build a working prototype / MVP
Final evaluation & demo presentation
Winners announced during ceremony
Duration of Rounds:
Round 1: Flexible submission timeline (pre-event screening)
Round 2: 24 Hours (30–31 March 2026)
General Guidelines:
Any tech stack (AI, ML, Web, App, IoT, Blockchain) allowed
Use of APIs, open-source tools allowed (with attribution)
All work must be original
Judges’ decision will be final
