The Future of Work X Education: Panel Discussions and Hackathon for Young Entrepreneurs and their Parents. Agenda
9:00–10:30 — Panel Discussions: The Future of Work X Education. Short, lively panels with kid-friendly audience moments (hands-up voting, quick table activities, and a shared “Problem Wall”).
10:30–11:00 — Break. Snacks + meet speakers + browse challenges + start forming teams.
11:00–13:00 — Parent-Child Hackathon. Teams form, build a quick prototype, and share their idea in a supportive gallery pitch walk. Some kids collect Pokémon cards. Some collect questions. This morning is for the question-collectors - and the parents who want to help them turn curiosity into something real.
Y [ Education ] together with IMPACTA [ Lab ] and Garage Society are launching a HK chapter of The Startup Academy, and are kicking things off with a half-day experience designed for families:
A mini-conference where speakers from education, technology, and business unpack what learning and work look like now—using examples kids can understand and parents can use at home. A parent-child hackathon where families form teams, choose a real-life challenge, build a quick prototype, and share a short pitch.
No prior experience needed. No perfect answers required. This is a room where kids can be imaginative and practical—and where parents learn how to coach without taking over. Who Should Attend
Kids (7–17) who like building, drawing, designing, debating, tinkering, helping, or asking “why?” Parents/caregivers who want to support independence, confidence, and real-world problem-solving. Families new to entrepreneurship and families who’ve tried it before—this is about clear thinking and collaboration, not buzzwords. Kids who are outgoing and kids who are quiet: teams need storytellers, organizers, artists, testers, and builders. What You’ll Gain
Kids will practice:
Turning “that’s annoying” into a clear “How might we…?” challenge. Working in a team with real roles (Builder, Artist, Interviewer, Storyteller, Organizer). Making a prototype fast—then improving it with feedback. Sharing ideas confidently in a short, friendly pitch format.
Parents will take home:
Practical ways to coach (questions to ask, how to give feedback, how to build independence). A clearer picture of what skills matter beyond test scores— without turning childhood into a checklist. A community of like-minded families who value creativity, effort, and usefulness.
What to Bring
A curious kid + a collaborating adult. Comfortable clothes. Optional: a small object your child likes (can be a “show-and-tell” confidence booster during team forming). All building materials for prototyping will be provided.
