HARDWARE BUILDATHON: OCTOBUILD
Design with Precision. Build with Purpose.
OctoBuild is an 8-hour hands-on Hardware Buildathon organized by E-Cell SRMIST, crafted to challenge participants to design, engineer, and prototype real-world hardware solutions under strict time constraints.
Inspired by the precision and strategic brilliance of Dr. Octopus, OctoBuild emphasizes calculated design, technical depth, and real-world feasibility. Teams will collaborate to build functional hardware prototypes, focusing not just on innovation, but also on scalability, market relevance, and system-level thinking.
This is not a theoretical competition — it is a simulation of real-world hardware product development, judged by industry experts, where execution matters as much as ideas.
WHAT MAKES OCTOBUILD STAND OUT?
Hands-on, offline hardware prototyping
Judged by industrial experts & professionals
Strong focus on Industry 4.0 & convergent technologies
Emphasis on feasibility, scalability, and impact
Real-time mentoring and expert feedback
DOMAIN FOCUS: INDUSTRY 4.0 & CONVERGENT TECHNOLOGIES
Participants are encouraged to build solutions at the intersection of:
AI & Machine Learning – predictive and adaptive intelligence
Internet of Things (IoT) – connected, sensor-driven systems
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) – intelligent interaction between software and hardware
Big Data & Analytics – extracting insights from real-time data
Human & Social-Centric Design – usability, ethics, and societal impact
This convergence mirrors real industrial ecosystems where hardware, software, data, and human factors work together.
